Frequently Asked Questions

How can I edit a PDF online for free?

Open your PDF, choose a tool, make your changes and select Apply changes to download the edited file. You can also try the sample or start with a blank document.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

This editor reads and processes the PDF locally in your browser. Document contents are not uploaded by the editing tools. The website may load application assets and fonts over the network.

Can I change existing text in a PDF?

Choose Edit text and click a detected text object to type directly on the page. Supported source text is rewritten or removed in the saved PDF. The original font is reused when it contains the needed characters; otherwise select a replacement font. Scanned, outlined, nested and angled text is not editable through this mode. Manual Box and Whiteout remain visual covering tools.

Can I edit scanned documents?

You can place text, signatures, images and shapes over a scanned page. Text inside a scanned image cannot be edited directly because this editor does not include OCR.

Does whiteout permanently redact information?

No. Whiteout only covers content visually. Underlying information remains recoverable. Use a dedicated secure redaction tool to permanently remove sensitive information.

Can I create and fill PDF forms?

Yes. Fill supported existing standard PDF fields or add text fields, multiline fields, checkboxes, dropdowns and radio groups. Created fields stay fillable in compatible PDF readers. XFA forms are not supported.

Can I open password-protected PDFs?

Encrypted PDFs are not supported by this editor. Use an authorized unencrypted copy of your document.

Are all languages and fonts supported?

Original-text editing reuses the PDF font and checks that replacement characters can be encoded. Some subset fonts lack new characters. Select a standard replacement font when prompted. Added text uses standard PDF fonts; complex scripts and scanned text are not supported by the text editor.
